Cruising along steaming sands on Deception Island!
One of the ships’ expedition leaders examines a pool of orange water forming, and concludes that it’s rust from the high iron content in the sands here.
Deception Island is composed of countless minerals from the Earth’s core, making the rock bed a very mixed bag of colours, though mostly the landscape is black and orange (again from the rusted iron content of the soil).
