TRiP Foundation’s Malaysia Projects

Malaysia is home to some of the world’s most biodiverse rainforests, yet deforestation and industrial expansion threaten its rich ecosystems and Indigenous communities. As part of Where Sidewalks End’s TRiP Foundation, we are committed to supporting conservation projects that protect forests, wildlife, and the rights of Indigenous peoples in Malaysia.

WSE Travel stands strongly behind our T.R.I.P. philosophy: Travel Responsibly, Impact Positively. As part of our initiative to ensure a positive impact is made from our guests’ travels with us, we donate 2% of the Gross Sales Price of their tour or experience bought through Where Sidewalks End. *

We sponsor either a community social project, an environmental project, or an animal protection project within the country they visit. The funds donated are by us on behalf of our guests by Where Sidewalks End, without costing them anything additional.

As local representatives of these countries and communities, we feel our responsibility is to give back to protect and preserve our destinations. This should not be asked of in addition to the hard-earned money our guests are already spending for their well-deserved holidays (though additional donations for the projects are encouraged, should our guests wish to take this initiative).

All amounts raised and collected for our TRiP Foundation are donated at the end of the calendar year to these awesome projects:

About this Organization

The Borneo Project works to protect the upper Baram River Basin—the largest area of unprotected primary forest in Sarawak. This vital rainforest is home to dozens of endangered species and sustains the Indigenous communities that depend on it. However, logging and palm oil expansion put the land, wildlife, and cultures of the Baram region at serious risk.

How This Project Helps

• Empowers Local Communities – Creates sustainable, Indigenous-led conservation projects through reforestation, wildlife surveys, and community-driven initiatives.
• Protects Indigenous Land Rights – Strengthens legal protections for communities facing deforestation threats.
• Prevents Deforestation – Fights against industrial logging and land exploitation.
• Supports Wildlife Conservation – Maintains wildlife corridors and preserves critical habitats.
